Charity Film Awards 2023 Finalists

We are delighted to announce that the film we produced for Demelza Hospice Care for Children ‘Fall on Me’ is a finalist in the Charity Film Awards 2023.  This is the 4th time Red Goat Productions have had a film in the final, and we are so pleased for everyone involved in the making of this production that this wonderful film has made the final 16.

Demelza provides expert clinical care and emotional support to children and young people with serious or terminal conditions, and their families, to live the best life they can.  Working across Kent, South East London and East Sussex their specialist nursing, care, family liaison, therapist and counselling teams support families when and where it is needed most.

Demelza’s Fall on Me choir – starring children, families, staff and volunteers – was formed during lockdown and has brought joy, happiness and hope through months of isolation, loneliness and fear.

When 49-year-old Sam, from Kent, first heard ‘Fall on Me’ by Andrea and Matteo Bocelli, she burst into tears. Sam says: “The words resonated so much with me. Having a child with a life-threatening condition, all that means on a day-to-day basis and with the added pressure of shielding from COVID-19, lockdown felt isolating. When we needed help, Demelza staff were there to catch us from falling.”

Sam’s reaction prompted her to approach Victoria Swan, Senior Music Therapist at Demelza, asking whether there was a way everyone could sing the track as part of the music therapy sessions. Victoria reached out to music producer James Hawkins – the mastermind behind the Missing People Choir who performed at Britain’s Got Talent in 2017 – to help make Sam’s dream a reality.

The final track and accompanying video played a leading role in the charity’s Festive Wishes 2021 Christmas campaign , creating more magical moments for children with serious or terminal conditions.
